Children’s choir grips hearts with powerful rendition of “Mary Did You Know”

It is the time of year for all things comforting. There is no better time than right now for a large dose of feel-goods as we buckle down and approach the “big day.”

We were shocked when a new music group did just that!

With their rendition of “Mary, Did You Know?” by One Voice Children’s Choir, the group just dropped a brand-new video. It’s like receiving a lovely early Christmas present.

The video quickly gained a lot of attention, and it is simple to understand why.

If it quickly makes it to your list of Christmas favorites, don’t be shocked!

The young people who make up the One Voice Children’s Choir (OVCC) are from the Wasatch Front region of northern Utah.

The singing group’s members range in age from four to eighteen. They all share a heavenly voice though, which is what unites them.

OVCC began as a choir during the Winter Olympics in 2002. (under a different name).

The kids wanted to keep performing together after the event was over.

Masa Fukuda, the group’s founder and music director, as well as the group’s encouraging parents, helped make this ambition come true.

According to their website,

The objective of the non-profit 501(c)3 corporation, of which One Voice Children’s Choir is a part, is to inspire the world through the strength of children’s voices.

The choir has more than 100 participants and more than 3.2 million YouTube subscribers.

It’s obvious from a single look through their channel that OVCC features a wide range of musical genres.

They sing Christmas music as well as pop, gospel, Broadway, and other genres. They even play original music.

Their rendition of “Mary, Did You Know” has people swooning around the internet.

The More You Give, OVCC’s newest Christmas EP, contains the song. Not only is their rendition amazing to listen to, but it’s even more heartwarming to observe the members’ angelic expressions while they sing.

Many people’s emotions are touched by the song “Mary, Did You Know?” during the holiday season.

Buddy Greene composed the melody, and Mark Lowry wrote the affecting lyrics, which are inquiries to Mary.

The song has been covered by many different performers over the years.

But wait till you hear how eerie it sounds when more than 20 kids sing it at once!

They have an ethereal choir-like quality.

The young singers initially perform while facing various directions and immersed in their individual worlds.

They all eventually rise to their feet and turn to face the choir director. It’s a beautiful sight when combined with their vocals.

Numerous YouTube viewers have offered supportive remarks, including:

“Another lovely rendition of a classic Christmas song that is full of truth. This has a great choral sound, particularly because of the harmonics. Congrats to everyone, including Masa.

Another commenter said:

“Their voices are so beautiful that they can bring tears to your eyes. We all come together through music.

One Voice Children’s Choir sent their own thoughtful message to their audience. In the comments, it is written:

“Merry Christmas! We appreciate you watching the newest video from our holiday EP. For the majority of us, this year has been difficult. As we enjoy this special holiday season, we are optimistic about the future. We are glad that music sharing has been safe during the pandemic.
