Chinese girl abandoned by her parents because of her appearance is now a Vogue model

A couple from China left their girl with albinism in the orphanage when she decided she was too ugly.

However, the fate of the baby was very different. Although she has only one color, she shines as a model.

Xueli Abbing lives in the Netherlands. A girl is born with congenital albinism, a genetic trait that manifests itself in the complete absence of melanin pigment.
Sherry says:
“After I was born, the Chinese authorities introduced a rule that every mother should have one child. My appearance made my situation worse. So kids like me were abandoned, imprisoned, and had their hair dyed black.

She was lucky when the baby was about 3 years old. She was adopted from Holland by a European family.

At the age of 11, she tried modeling for the first time. And this opportunity came to her quite by accident. Xueli’s birth mother reached out to a Hong Kong fashion designer who launched a campaign called Perfect Flaws. It was in fashion shows that she started her career.

Now she has become a successful girl, she is already on the pages of the Italian magazine Vogue 2019. She also believes she’s changing her world for the better by breaking stereotypes about people who have the same traits as her. But even in modeling jobs where her extraordinary looks are an advantage, Xueli faces a range of problems. She admits that people with albinism are often forced to pretend to be angels or spirits.
