It was Teddy Mazzini’s sixth birthday and 32 classmates had been invited to a pizza party in his honor. What should have been his day of joyous celebrations in Tucson, Arizona quickly turned disastrous.
None of those invited showed up and only one parent called to apologize and apologize. Teddy sat alone, frowning at the long, empty table lined with dozens of leftover birthday pizzas.

Teddy’s mother, Sil Mazzini, furiously posted a picture of her son’s broken heart on Facebook. It didn’t take long for a photo of this adorable but very sad little man to go viral. With all the publicity and media attention.
Thursday after Teddy’s party, the Phoenix Suns called Teddy and his father to a game against the Lakers. They treated Teddy like a true MVP. Brighter than the sun itself, Teddy gave every Phoenix player a high five on his way to the court. He spent time with some of the players and watched the game from the best seats in the house.
Thanks to the team, Teddy’s birthday party went from zero to thousands. Here is the video.
What started as his worst birthday turned out to be one he’ll probably never remember without a smile.
