Helping animals is always an inspiration, but some people go above and beyond, going above and beyond to save the day.
In order to save a puppy from a canal, a group of students pulled off an astonishing upside-down trick.
Two 20-year-old students from Manchester, UK, Jack Spencer Furmston and Ben Camphor, were returning from a coffee shop when they came across a stranger who appeared to be in trouble.
Sumak the dog had reportedly fallen into the Ancoats Canal, and its owner Batu Akyol was attempting to cling on by the leash, according to MailOnline.
Jack and Ben made the decision to halt and provide assistance as the dog struggled mightily to cling to the edge of the wall. Ben told MailOnline that “everyone was in a panic.” I put my sweater down and sprung into action because I couldn’t let that dog down and remain silent.
They began a risky rescue operation as more people joined in: Ben jumped over the wall head-first while five others grabbed his feet.
Ben was able to reach the dog in the water while hanging upside-down and pull him to safety.
Dabhidh MchicEamailinn recorded the rescue and posted it on Twitter. They get the dog to safety and there are cheers.
On Twitter, the video has received over 2.8 million views, and internet users have hailed the rescuers as heroes.
What a heroic rescue! We appreciate these kids going above and above to save this puppy from the canal!
