K9s are incredible dogs. They not only offer a priceless service to police agencies, but they also leave a lasting impression on their fellow cops, creating an unbreakable friendship.
In one video, a police dog that has been separated from his old handler for a long period looks to be crying.
The Xichuan Police Department uploaded the touching video on a Chinese social media platform. The department employed Wangwang, an 8-year-old German shepherd, as a sniffer dog before he retired in June 2019, according to Daily Star.
Wangwang was well cared for and deserved a lovely retirement, but sadly this meant she was no longer with her handler and partner.
She had been away from him for a while and really missed him, so when the officer decided to surprise her, she was pleased and rushed to see him.
The reunion between the two old pals is lovely. Wangwang, who appears to be in tears and overjoyed, is petted and rubbed by the officer.
There was no love lost between this cop and dog, despite the fact that they hadn’t seen each other recently and had gone their own ways. The original video stated, “Wangwang’s hair is turning white but she is well nourished, she is gaining fat.”
“It is never easy to say goodbye to your friend.”
While many K9s and other working canines spend their golden years living with their owners after retirement, the Xichuan Police claim their officers do not have the time to care for retired dogs and so they are taken care of by a family.
It’s unfortunate that these two had to part ways after developing what appears to be a deep friendship while working together, but based on Wangwang’s face, we can assume that this wasn’t the officer’s last visit to his old friend.
What a charming video. It demonstrates the power of a dog’s love and the endurance of the link between K9 police canines and their handlers.
