The mother will go to any lengths to protect her unborn children. Even after the nest was nearly totally covered in snow, the female bald eagle remained within! She went on to reheat the eggs so the chicks could see the light.
Ornithologists have been using webcams to study how these lovely birds raise their young for many years. Yet this year, viewers were more concerned than normal about them.
Due to the bitterly cold winter and the snow-covered nest, the mother remained motionless. Male eagles are in charge of feeding, gathering fish, and small animals whereas female eagles spend 80% of their time sitting on eggs.
Once they have laid their eggs, eagles are unable to leave their nest on their own. When there was a snowstorm, hailstorm, or a snowfall that was neck-deep, the mother eagle would sit on her eggs to shield them from the weather. The eagle fluffed her feathers and burst the shackles once she was completely blanketed in snow.
Before returning to the nest, she flipped the eggs with her enormous claws and beak. She had to wait a little while longer for her watch to expire because the chicks weren’t anticipated for another week. A chick spends the first three months of its life in the nest while being fed by its parents. Afterwards they’ll need training to fly.
