Mom gives birth at home with the support of her corgi, who never leaves her side.

The unique delivery of Brooke Ellington, who had a special doula in the form of a corgi named Ranger, was seen by Kristin Waner, an Odessa, Texas-based photographer specialized in infant, birth, and pregnancy photos. Kristin has a particular place in her heart for Brooke’s family because she had previously captured images of Brooke’s labor and delivery.

This time, Ranger the Corgi assisted Brooke at the delivery of Berkeley, replacing Ryder, Brooke’s Corgi, who had previously served as a doula during the birth of her first child, Boyd.
Kristin saw in the first person how Ranger was by his mother’s side the entire time, supporting her through her labor and giving birth. Like Ryder, Ranger allowed Brooke to hold him, kiss him, and just be around him whenever she was having contractions as a way of showing his love and care for her.

Ranger did his best to help the family by being a nice guy from the bed to the delivery pool to the moment he saw his human sister. Fortunately, Kristin captured as many images of this fantastic, once-in-a-lifetime moment as she could, so now we can all see what it’s like to have a Corgi as a doula.
