It’s easy to forget that there are values outside of money. That’s why I’m constantly inspired by people who work hard to protect the environment and help others save money so they can better support themselves. And this is particularly true for farmers, who put in a lot of effort just to give us food. Therefore, I didn’t mind that the “Shark Tank” panel of businessmen weren’t immediately interested in Florida’s Johnny Georges, a Christian irrigation farmer. This man has a good heart, a good spirit, and a good idea that could help tens of thousands of farmers across the nation.
Georges appeared on the show to implore the panel to invest $150,000 in his “Tree T-Pee” company. His invention transforms plant irrigation and aids farmers in yearly water conservation of thousands of gallons. The only problem is George’s corporate philosophy. Each “Tree T-Pee” costs him $2.95 to produce, but he only gets paid $4.50 for each one.
The judges suggested that Georges raise the price of his goods to about $12 when they realized this. This would be advantageous for Georges and investors, who would also be able to grow the company and reach every potential customer in America.
But Georges’ clients are not your typical clients. Georges won’t overcharge them since they are farmers. Georges conveyed this with a very anxious appearance. As tears started to form, he jerked his head from side to side.
One investor immediately left. Georges was about to give up when another judge offered to invest the full $150,000 in the deal, saving him from doing so. He praised Georges’ strong character, convictions, and spirit in addition to the goods.
