Christina Applegate has hinted that she may be retiring soon

The actress from Dead to Me, who received a multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2021, predicted to the Los Angeles Times that her final appearance as an actor would likely be at the SAG Awards.

At the event on February 27, the actress walked the red carpet alongside her daughter Sadie Grace, who is 12 years old. She carried a cane that read “FU MS,” which had become a part of her new normal.

The renowned actress was nominated for outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series for her work as Jen Harding in Netflix’s Dead to Me.

This was her sixth overall nomination.

However, the 51-year-old is not likely to be around for very long.

Before the awards presentation, Applegate said, “It’s probably my last awards show as an actor, so it’s kind of a big deal.”

“Right now, I couldn’t imagine getting up at 5 in the morning and working for 12 to 14 hours on a set; I don’t have that in me,” Applegate said.

The Married with Children veteran was given an MS diagnosis while she was filming the third and final season of Dead to Me in 2021.

She had to stop filming the show in order to get medical attention, but she was determined to finish it. However, she couldn’t see herself in Married with Children until several months after the movie’s debut.

She said, “I don’t like seeing myself struggle.

Additionally, due to inactivity and drugs, I put on 40 pounds, which made me feel and look unrecognizable.

When she started filming again, she noticed that everything had changed significantly.

“Every day I was a wreck, but the majority of that wreck would happen in my trailer by myself. However, there were occasions when I’d have to leave the set because I needed a break for a half-hour since everyone was so supportive.

Applegate was questioned about her life following Dead to Me in November.

Finding my capabilities is important, she told Variety.

Since disclosing her MS diagnosis, Christina Applegate has never gone barefoot. She is no longer able to put in long days of work at a time. Applegate now has to learn how to manage a chronic condition.

I’m just getting started with all of this. So although I’m trying to understand it, I’m also grieving for the person I used to be. When I say, “Hey, I can only work five hours,’ they won’t treat me like a diva, so I need to find a place that’s as loving as my set.”

Applegate claims that if she wishes to act once more, she will need to find “a place that will allow me to [work five hours] if I’m not the star.”

She is still undecided if acting is in her destiny despite her health improvements.

This was it, I’m quite sure about it, you know? Who knows, though; I’ll probably grow to hate spending time alone in my room. I want to create things and develop things. I just need to put my ideas into action since I have so many in my head.

She would like to “do a s— ton of voice-overs to make some cash to make sure that my daughter is fed and we’re home” if producing or developing don’t work out.

I hope Christina Applegate acknowledges the wonderful job she has done for fans over the past many decades in whatever she chooses to do in the future.
