In a bizarre sense, the majority of people associate Henry Winkler with Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli from the hit television program Happy Days. Fonzie gained notoriety in the 1970s as a symbol and personification of coolness.
Winkler was born in New York City on October 30, 1945. Prior to pursuing careers as a producer, director, and writer, Winkler said that he always believed acting was his destiny.
In 2019, he told NPR, “I knew that I wanted to act since I was old enough to reason.” I never had a backup plan. I never changed. I never considered that there was anything else that I might be able to do in this world but try to get a job as an actress.
As a child, he struggled academically and intellectually, which harmed his relationship with his parents. Dyslexia was present in Winkler at the time, although it wasn’t recognized until much later.
Young Winkler attended college despite his sickness, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Yale School of Drama and Emerson College, respectively, in 1967 and 1970.
After making a brief Broadway performance in 1972, Winkler gained notoriety for his roles in advertisements. “I became excellent at obtaining ads, so I didn’t need to work another job to get by. I could perform plays at the Manhattan Theatre Club at night for free since I had a job.
When he made his Happy Days debut, his charisma and tough appearance won over millions of admirers, and his motorcycle and leather jacket eventually became sort of the show’s mascots. He once admitted that it took him almost eight years to find another successful acting role following The Fonz, despite the fact that the role served as the catalyst for the start of his career.

After the series was over, the Prime Time Emmy Award winner switched her focus from acting to producing and directing. His production company was responsible for the creation of many shows, such as Mr. Sunshine, So Weird, and MacGyver. He has acted in films like Scream and The Waterboy in addition to roles on shows like The Practice and Arrested Development.
In the role of acting coach Gene Cousineau in the comedy/drama series Barry, Winkler debuted in 2018 alongside Bill Hader. The coronavirus outbreak has forced a postponement of the series’ filming. “We were reading scripts by Barry.”
They advised me to go home and not return on March 13,” he alleged to Entertainment Tonight. “After that, we heard July, after that, September, and now January…I hope we return to work in January. Since December 2018, I have been waiting to be Gene Cousineau.
Winkler has written and published about 30 novels since the early 2000s.
“When I was first requested to write the books, I didn’t even consider the possibility. I told Winkler’s agent at CAA, Alan Berger, who suggested that I write a book, that there was no way I could never do it, he said in 2011 to the Hollywood Reporter.
Since 1978, Winkler and his wife Stacey Furstman Weitzman have been together.
He entered the clothing store where she worked in search of a coat, and that is how the two fell in love. He returned a week later and asked Stacey out after she had helped him make his decision; she almost turned him down.
She was wearing purple parachute pants and had red hair when they first met, and without her saying a word, Winkler recounted, “I thought, ‘Woah, beautiful woman standing in front of me’. The following week, when I returned to the shop, she was still there. And in just ten minutes, I discovered just how resilient she is.
Soon after they began dating, Stacey and her son, who was 4 at the time, moved in with Winkler, and the couple was starting to figure out how to deal with Winkler’s growing notoriety.
“People would practically step over my feet as they rushed up to Henry. You just absolutely wrecked my stockings, I exclaimed once. And this lady responded, “But I adore Fonzie!” Stacey previously revealed to People.
Together, the two have Zoey and Max, a girl and a son.
By working in Hollywood as a writer, producer, and director on popular shows like Crazy Ex Girlfriend and New Girl, Max has followed in his father’s career-path.
Stacey has battled cancer twice. She received her initial diagnosis of breast cancer in the 1990s, and she received a second one in 2007, the year she underwent a double mastectomy and has been cancer-free ever since.
In order to help his wife, Winkler has gotten involved with a number of organizations that promote breast cancer awareness. At the 13th annual “In The Pink of Health” Luncheon, one of many events the club puts on to generate money for, among other things, breast cancer patients and their families, he spoke as a guest speaker.
We love Winkler because he never holds back when expressing his love for his wife in front of the public. When James Corden surprised them with a photo of their wedding day on his show, Winkler said that Stacey had remained just as stunning as the day he first saw her.
It does require effort. There are bumps on the road, and you get a little out of balance, but if you have the ability and the perseverance based on love, then your friendship and your relationship only grows better,” Stacey once said of the couple’s long-lasting marriage to People.
The grandparents they are, Henry Winkler and his wife, love it.
