Some dogs look a little different, but that doesn’t make them less adorable.
But a thoughtful veterinarian has found an adorable way to give the earless dog new ears. The vet hopes that this will promote the dog’s adoption.
A 2-year-old dog named Willy Wonka arrived at the Sacramento SPCA after getting stuck in a fence and being attacked by a dog from a neighboring house. Due to his injuries, paramedics had to surgically remove his earlobes. Veteran John Holmquist helped the dogs at the shelter. with everything he could.
He was worried that Willy’s scars and missing ears would delay potential adoption and prevent him from finding a home. So he went home and made a gift that would make Willy Wonka cuter than any dog in the shelter. He knitted a hat with drop ears.
Last weekend, the press reported that Willie had been adopted, but unfortunately that is no longer the case, as the other dogs in the family “didn’t appreciate his arrival.” He returned to the Sacramento SPCA in search of his forever family.”
Despite this setback, they do not give up and are confident that the perfect family is out there for this sweet dog. They describe it as a good “couch potato” even for dogs who appreciate an extroverted personality and a slightly “different” appearance.
